“Our schools of specialisation have served as beacons of hope, especially in areas that have lost hope. They attract the best learners. Not only are our learners empowered for the technological future, but they are also developing the necessary skills for business and sustainable living,” Chiloane said.

He also explained that Tshwane has been identified as an area that is most suitable to establish a school of specialisation in research and innovation. While doing his walkabout at the school, he also realised that learners are being taught how to apply the education they have been equipped with to come up with innovative, sustainable solutions.

“I’ve witnessed how schools of specialisation have been able to contribute innovatively, as well as prepare learners for the future. The power of research and technology will see young people providing solutions to some of our societal ills. Our learners are fully capable of formulating sustainable solutions,” Chiloane said.
