Western Cape Education Department Opens Admission Window Period for Grades 1 and 8

Admissions for the 2025 academic year for Grade 1 and Grade learners in the Western Cape have been opened. 

The Western Cape Department of Education states that the admissions period for the two grades is from Monday the 11^th of March 2024 until the 12^th of April 2024.

“Don’t wait, get your certified documents ready! Visit our website wcedonline.westerncape.gov.za for more information,” the department is urging. 

Documents required for school application are as follows:

• Last Official School Report Card
• Immunisation Card (Road To Health) for Grade 1 only
• Birth Certificate, ID, or passport of the learner
• Proof of Residence 

The online application process is easy and should take less than 20 minutes of parents’ time. The WCED says there will be pop-up admission sites to make things easier and provide assistance with the virtual application process.
