Another school stabbing incident has claimed a learner’s life.
Learners from different schools had gathered on Friday, 1 March 2024 for a cultural day event at Phothani Secondary School in Mulamula, Limpopo, when two of them allegedly had a fight which resulted in the stabbing and killing of one.
Limpopo Education MEC, Mavhungu Lerule Ramakhanya expressed her condolences to the family that lost a loved one and urged parents to play a part in making sure that schools are safe for children.
“As a department, we regret the incident and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. I am still making a plea to parents and all the interested parties to ensure that schools remain a conducive place for learning,’’ Lerule Ramakhanya said.
The Limpopo Department of Education said in a statement, that they are working closely with the police to conduct investigations.
