President Cyril Ramaphosa Honours “Techno Granny” with Silver Order of Baobab Award

Her name is Phuti Ragophala, but she is
fondly and commonly referred to as the
“Techno Granny” because with her
love and passion for technology,
she has taken education to
new heights and continues to inspire
others.
She has spent 36 years in
teaching, but even though
she is 65 years old and
retired, the burning
fire she has for this
profession, has not
died down.
Her love for
technology, started when
she was a junior teacher
and the then principal
encouraged her to attend
the Maths, Science
and Technology
(MASTECH) project

  • an initiative of the
    former Limpopo
    MEC of Education,
    Dr Aaron
    Motsoaledi. The
    principal instructed
    that when she comes
    back, she needs to
    impart her knowledge
    on other teachers and
    also the learners.
